Preparing Youth Voices for the 2024 European Elections

WWith the European Elections of 2024 approaching, the active participation of young people in the electoral process is more crucial than ever. Their engagement shapes a future that reflects their aspirations and concerns. In collaboration with Europe Direct: Nice Côte d’Azur, we hosted a workshop in Nice, France, dedicated to clarifying the role of European institutions and exploring how youth can actively engage in the upcoming elections. This event provided a platform for both young people and youth workers, creating an opportunity to discuss, learn, and express their views on democracy and civic participation. The discussions emphasized the importance of youth involvement in shaping the future of Europe. Young participants from France and various European countries joined us, contributing to insightful conversations and meeting key objectives: As we move closer to the elections, initiatives like these serve as essential spaces for education, dialogue, and action, ensuring that young voices are heard where it matters most.

Shaping the Future of Digital Youth Work with DEEP TC

In the quiet peaceful hills of Cabris, France, something big is unfolding. DEEP: Digitize, Engage, Empower Participation has kicked off, bringing together 29 participants from France, Romania, Sweden, Spain, Poland, Italy, Turkey, Latvia, and Germany for a training course that challenges the way youth work integrates digital participation. This project is about rethinking engagement, making digital tools work for youth participation, and ensuring young people see their role in shaping society. Participants will explore how digital activism connects to citizenship, assess current digital youth work practices, and design practical digital guidelines for youth workers. At the core of DEEP are four key pillars: The first days have been about setting the foundation—mapping out digital participation realities, analyzing how organizations can adapt, and beginning to craft strategies that will serve as practical solutions for youth work across Europe. As the training unfolds, participants will not only exchange knowledge but also co-create digital frameworks that can be applied long after this course ends.

A Week of Eco-Innovation Comes to a Close

Over the past week, 42 participants have taken on the challenge of eco-entrepreneurship, diving deep into the Design Thinking process. Through immersive sustainability simulations, national case studies, and hands-on prototyping, they transformed broad environmental issues into realistic, innovative business solutions. Midway through the exchange, the focus shifted to developing prototypes and refining business plans. Crafting solutions in intercultural teams came with its challenges—balancing different perspectives, navigating communication barriers, and adjusting to new methodologies—but it also proved to be one of the most rewarding aspects of the experience. Participants explored the realities of sustainable entrepreneurship, questioned the feasibility of their ideas, and adapted to the complexities of green business models. Then, the final pitches arrived. Each team stepped up, presenting their solutions while their peers acted as investors, pushing them to defend their concepts and refine their impact. The discussions were intense, filled with critical insights and moments of realization. Some ideas showed such promise that we hope they take shape beyond this exchange. As the project officially came to a close, we took a moment to reflect on everything that had happened. We wrapped up with a final evaluation and recap, then headed to the shore to watch the sunrise
